All they do is tell us how horrible the world is, and they lie all the time. Why should they even be allowed to do that?

People watch the news to hear about events that are out of the ordinary. Out of the ordinary generally—though not always—means something is wrong. If everything was perfect, most people would not watch the news. As for why they’re “allowed” to do it—it’s called freedom of speech. People are allowed to lie. It’s not fraud, unless they’re lying to try and cheat you out of money. It’s not libel or slander, unless they’re lying to intentionally damage someone in some way.
