Things That I Hate

“You’re too young to watch that!”

I’m thirteen years old. I know everything they’re saying on TV, and even if I don’t watch it, it’s not like I don’t hear it constantly at school. I am not too young to watch it!

  1. It’s not just about knowing what’s being said and what’s happening. The more you see and hear a thing, the more desensitized to it you become, and if you see and hear enough of a thing while you’re young (or “too young”) it can have a lasting impression on you.

  2. There are more than just bad words. There are lots of “adult situations” that have deeper connotations that may not be clear to you. You’re still developing an impression of the world and how people should be treated. Seeing the wrong way to treat people on T.V. enough times can distort your impression in a very negative way.
