Why can’t the government just kill them? They waste tax dollars and are obviously in prison for something horrible.

And what about the people who are falsely imprisoned? Several hundred people have been released from death row in the past few years after their trials were reopened and DNA evidence conclusively proved they were innocent. They were sentenced to death, and they were innocent. Now, if that many on death row were innocent, imagine how many sentenced to life in prison—a considerably higher number than those on death row—are innocent. I’m not against the death sentence at all, but there’s a place for life sentences and death sentences need a 10+ year buffer to protect those who are innocent.
Also, you idiot, do you know that almost everyone appeals their case when they are sentenced? This means they still live for another twenty years. So suck it up!
