Things That I Hate

Parents Not Believing You

I used to hate reading books, but now I read them all the time, only online, because I don’t have time to go the library. Whenever my dad starts talking about internet addiction it goes like the following.

“You’re on your computer again, using Facebook and all sorts of other stuff that doesn’t teach you anything.”

“No, dad. I’m reading.”

“Reading? Pfft… What are you reading, then?”

“To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“Yeah, right. You read that in eighth grade.”

“I was just rereading it, because it’s interesting.”

“Don’t lie to me. I know you weren’t reading it. If you actually were, you wouldn’t get Cs on essays.”

If I suck at essays, that doesn’t mean I don’t read. Wow.

Even your loving parents can sometimes turn you down and just make you lose interest in something important by saying stuff like this.

  1. Please explain how you have time to read, but don’t have time to go to the library. Don’t they have one of those right inside your school?
