Technological Ignorance

I hate how some kids at my school who are in the HTML class claim they can “program” and “code”. First of all HTML is a markup language (Hyper Text Markup Language) and is not a programing language. Second, if I tell them about how programing languages like Java or C++ are different from markup languages, plus show them several technology sites and books proving my knowledge to be correct and accurate, they still say HTML is a programing language. Finally, when I bring them to the guy who teaches their HTML class (among other computer related classes) and he confirms what I said, they act like jerks for several days before finally going back to ignoring me. What is my point? I don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of sports, so don’t pretend to know all the ins and outs of the technology world. That’s geek territory.
