Not Being Allowed to Read

I hate the fact that I’m not allowed to read books in my own home. My mom catches me reading one book in my room and accuses me of being a bookworm and a hermit, after which she lectures me to no end. I hate that I automatically panic and attempt to hide the book I’m reading when I hear footsteps outside my door. She’s making me paranoid!
