Things That I Hate

Meat-Eaters and Their Lack of Respect for Vegetarians

I’m a vegetarian and people act like it’s a crime not to eat meat and they just don’t respect my views on it. I mean, I don’t go around telling them it’s wrong to eat meat, so they shouldn’t tell me that it’s wrong to not eat it.

  1. Vegetarian hate makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't hate meat-eaters, or vegans, or fruitarians, just because they don't eat exactly what I do. Why not just let everyone eat what they want?

  2. You personally might not tell people it is wrong to eat meat. Though I have come across several Vegetarians that do spout off and tell me it is bad.So the cycle continues.

  3. @ Chris - i agree. There is a flip side to this. I am a meat eater since it's unhealthy for me to live off vegetables and fruit etc since i need an insane amount of iron blah blah. If i don't eat red meat regularly i get migraines and sick very easily. I have come across MANY vegetarians who damn me for eating meat. Well, if the animal is being killed i'd rather the whole body is used, no wastage. Where i live we need to regularly cull the kangaroos since there are too many and they're messing up the ecosystem. So this means my family eats culled kangaroo meat or lamb from the halal butchery.

I dunno. Maybe australians just back off when someone says that they're vegetarian. But it is always polite to let the host know that you can't eat meat - i've had SO many of my vegan/vege friends come over, not tell me (i'm sorry i can't keep track of your changing diet) and then complain LOUDLY that all they have to eat is chips and coke.

But yes. We meat eaters can be shits.
