Things That I Hate

Abortion

People think it is okay to do. People say it is just a brainless mass. But they’re wrong. Sixteen days after conception the baby’s hart starts to beat. Four days after conception there is a brain. I wonder about the pain that baby went through when they took a knife and stabbed it through its heart. All of us were once like that! We used to be cells and you know what, cells are the sign of life. If the cells are multiplying, it is alive. And it is horrible to end its life just because it’s a baby. It will never have a chance. If you don’t want kids, don’t have sex!

  1. The brain, heart, and other organs begin development around that time but they are not operational. Just because there is early brain tissue does not mean it is conscious. You’re using appeals to emotion to bypass the actual facts which are that no, it is not a living human before it’s developed, it is the potential for a human.

  2. I agree except for the “if you don’t want kids, don’t have sex” part. If you don’t want kids, use protection.

  3. What if a girl was raped and got pregnant? What if she was a victim of incest? What if adoption was out of the question? What if she was on protection and it failed? What if she was 16? What if she doesn’t want to ruin her life with a baby? Isn’t that taking away one life and giving it to an unwanted bunch of cells? And what about the population? We already have too many people in the world, and overpopulated species end up starving until the population is back in check. So does that mean pro-life people want thousands upon thousands of people to die, just for a few unwanted babies? How is that “pro-life”?

  4. Also consider that the baby, once it’s born, can be given away to an orphanage or mentally/physically abused. Don’t you think that would hurt more?

It’s the mentality that death is the worst punishment that enables pro-lifers such as yourself.

  5. But think about overpopulation. Think about how many women out there (many who’ve been raped, or already have multiple children, or have a low income, or are disabled, or are teenagers or preteens, or homeless, or hiding from an abusive boyfriend or husband) can’t afford to have a child without ruining their lives. These aren’t just occasional sob stories, by the way—I volunteer at an abortion organization and 95% of the people I talk to have stories like this. Just because you personally are against abortion doesn’t mean that nobody should be able to have one if it would make their lives better.

  6. Exactly. If you’re opposed to abortion—don’t get one. Don’t interfere with the lives of others who may have been unintentionally impregnated and should not be forced by other people to go through an unwanted pregnancy and have an unwanted child. Forcing that on someone is evil.

  7. I believe in a woman’s right to choose. It’s her body, let her do with it what she may. She has to meet her maker and He is the only one who can judge her. Therefore, it is no one else’s earthly business what that woman chooses to do.

  8. I’m just wondering… hypothetically, you know… do you remember being in the womb?

  9. I love how science tells us we’re being emotional ’cause (cue sarcasm) they can prove the baby can’t feel and the mothers aren’t depressed or the large group of women who die from it. Or that the majority are young girls and older guys.

It’s like Oprah. She has a failed marriage and no kids and she tells us how to fix ourselves.

  10. If it can’t live outside of the mother’s body, it’s not alive.

  11. This is a really late response, but I just wanted to say, Nomi: That was one of the best comments I’ve seen on this site.
