Riding the Elevator Wrong

Say an elevator is seven floors. Say you are on the sixth floor. Say you want to get to ground floor. Say you see on the display that an elevator is on the third floor coming up. Do you press both the up and down buttons on the elevator? If so, I hate you for just slowing down the elevator for no reason. It does not improve times, only worsens them.
