Wasted Education
Throughout my education, I have been required to dedicate many hours of each week to researching essay topics, discussing them, peer-editing them, and finally submitting finished work. Most of them were about subjects I don’t care about; I just had to write them to pass a class and graduate. I spent most of my very little free time learning what I could about computers and technology, because they actually interested me. This knowledge will be invaluable in my future career, while being able to write a really good analytical essay on Hamlet will not. The incredible number of hours I was forced to dedicate to English classes will have been almost entirely a waste for me. If I had the opportunity to take more computer- and technology-related classes from a younger age, I would have had a much more enjoyable education and would be far more prepared for career than I am now.
