St. Patrick’s Day

Why do we celebrate St. Patrick’s day? Do we only do it to watch Irish dancers and eat corn beef? To go to parades that are filled with drunk people? I don’t know about any religious reasons for it. And not everyone lives in Ireland or is Irish.
