Sneak Peaks of the Weather

This may be a local phenomenon, but I don’t think so. Does your news station lead off segments, or the entire program, by making the statement “Later on, we’ll let you know whether those rumors of impending floods/tornadoes/sunshine/warmth are true or not”? As soon as I hear one of those I switch to the weather channel and find out immediately. Their attempts to get viewers to hang on just another minute or two by making these statements which could be replaced by “rain tomorrow” just irk me.
