“Let’s Hang!”

Don’t you just hate it when people say “let’s hang tomorrow” or “we totally have to hang”? It sounds stupid! Why can’t they just say “let’s hang out?” I know most people do it to sound cool, but they don’t! They just end up sounding stupid!
