Parents Not Supporting Their Kids

I told my parents that I got accepted into a college and that I planned on majoring in creative writing and minoring in literature. They didn’t even say congratulations or anything. My mom just complained that she’d have to pay a lot of money for that and my step dad told me I shouldn’t even bother. He then told me that my major was stupid because I don’t even write. He wouldn’t even listen when I tried to explain that I had drawers full of short stories and poems but I was just too ashamed to admit that that was my real passion because I knew they’d say it was useless. They never believed I could get into college and now that I have they don’t think I should even go. Why can’t they just support me for once?
