Things That I Hate

Whiners

Today I had to listen to a kid whine to a teacher, saying how he had 95.7%, which is an A, but when he checked his grades it listed an A-. All the while, I’m sitting next to him and thinking, Oh my god, just shut up! He could have at least talked to her after class, but instead he made people who aren’t exactly acing the class feel stupid (like myself).

  1. People don't have an obligation to sacrifice themselves for the feelings of others. This student was attempting to correct a legitimate error that was giving him a lesser grade than he earned. If you're so desperate to avoid reality that you want to stop those better than you from appearing as good as they are so that you feel better about yourself, you need to reconsider your own philosophy.

  2. It's not his fault. If he's ACTUALLY TRYING to make his grades better, that means he's a good student. If he gets good grades, congratulate him, instead of wishing that you were smarter than everyone else.
