I hate people with egos, because they think they’re better than everyone else and they actually suck. If you’re that cocky, you should at least be somewhat good. You can’t brag when you’re that bad.

Everyone has, or should have, an ego. "Ego" is Latin for "I", or self. It's your sense of self-worth. Truly rational egoists are a great thing to behold—people who are great, and know it. However, that's not what you're describing. You're describing people of a more second-handed nature: they're not great, but they brag about how great they are to others in an attempt to gain the effect which they are unable to cause due to their lack of real greatness.
