Things That I Hate

Chivalry is Dead

Why is it so impossible to find a boy who does not like to wear his pants around his ankles? I was obviously born in the wrong time period because I want a boy who will want to open a door for me, put his coat over a puddle for me, be there when I need him, and just love me for me—not for the lack of clothes I’d have to wear to impress him. I realize this all seems overly demanding, but there was once a time when even the most common girl was treated like a queen. Times when girls were praised for remaining virgins until marriage. Now, a girl is pressured to have sex before marriage and people that remain virgins are branded as losers. I do not understand this generation and I wish with all my heart that it could go back to a time where there was chivalry and people knew what respect was.

  2. Why, as a guy, can't I get these things from a girl? This seems sexist.

  3. trust me, the guys who will put their coats in puddles for you are the ones who will do ANYTHING to make you happy. this includes agreeing against their better judgment (i'm prolife, but i told my prolife b/f once that i could see the prochoice argument, and he agreed just b/c i said it. ridiculous). it's very obnoxious. i agree with andrew- it needs to be a mutual give & take. i like to be happy but to have a guy bend over backwards is so very annoying.

  4. Women fought hard to be treated as equals . To be equals in every way . To be equal in every way means that "chivalry" needs to be redefined as a whole . Personally i believe chivalry to be a good thing and it comes easily to me . but not every woman wants to be treated that way . In fact many woman will not only not appreciate these chivalrous actions but will get pissed off at you for offering them . chivalry really is dead .

  5. Why do women expect this sort of behavior from men? This is extremely sexist.

Why don't I just remark on how, at one time, women would do ALL of the housework and cook and clean for their man because it was their job. I wish I could find a woman like that.

  6. Chivalry dies, because not all women will demand it like you do. Most girls don't seem interested in the old-timey you're-my-gal relationship, but they should be. It can turn out to be a really beautiful, fitting relationship style. Not all guys are ignorant of this.

  7. I treat my girl like the princess she is. She deserves everything in the world. But, I can't be expected to put my coat over a puddle. 1: It's my coat! Do you want to buy me a new one? 2: Walk around it. I will do it with you, it's not that hard. There are many lengths that I will go for her, but understandably there are some things that just aren't going to happen.

  8. This is ridiculous -- chivalry has been dead since women got the right to vote. Politeness, however, still may exist.

An excess of feminism is actually destroying the world. Men and/or women don't have defined roles in their relationships -- not to mention, nobody's staying home with the kids.
